Changing Trends in Haircare 2025

Changing Trends in Haircare 2025
Ambika Arumugam

With a continuous and consistent change in the lifestyles of the 21st century people there is a debate of what is right and what is wrong. These debates may relate to eating habits, use of cosmetics, environment protection, etc. Now the funny part is most of these debaters are themselves confused, they tend to contradict themselves time and again. Similar is the case with ‘Haircare’, no one knows the fact but argues based on personal preferences and their centre of interest. For example, there are several brands that offer quick solutions to hair care problems, but in the longer run it may lead to irreversible hair damage. Thus, to avoid this problem, people look for a more sustainable option that not just provides solutions to their hair problems but also ensures that it is free from side effects.

Thus, we see in the current scenario people have changed their preferences to natural ayurvedic products. It is evident from the fact that ayurveda now holds a significant place in the beauty industry.

A More Aware Consumer

In the hair care industry, as the consumer has become more aware, they tend to look for the following things while buying a product:

  • They choose a product which has transparency in labelling so that they can make a wise decision.
  • For hair care they look for the products which are free from harmful chemicals like parabens and sulphates.
  • Hair care products which offer gentle cleansing and natural shine are often preferred by the consumer.
  • As ayurveda offers them a holistic approach for overall wellbeing by identifying their doshas, the consumer gets attracted by this objective approach.

Sustainable Hair Care and Ayurveda

Sustainability of a product is also an important aspect that the manufacturers focus on these days as it comes under the social responsibilities that the businesses are obliged to follow. Ayurvedic haircare products offer that much needed collaboration in the form of the following:

  • Use of eco-friendly packaging to counter environmental pollution.
  • Encouraging the reuse of the bottles in which the product is stored.
  • Use of ingredients that are biodegradable (Ayurvedic products make use of natural ingredients that are safe for consumption as well as the environment).
  • Vegan products are encouraged as they ensure that a consumer is not funding a product derived from cruelty of any sort to other living creatures.

Technology Meets Tradition

Many ayurvedic hair care brands have now embedded AI technology into their websites. AI, through simple questions identifies the correct hair care routine for the individual by pinpointing the dosha imbalance (vata, pitta, kapha) a person is dealing with. It recommends hair oils (bhringraj, amla, almond, etc.), hair serums made with natural herbs and the routine that is needed to be followed for the revival of hair health.
